Gutta Percha

Gutta-percha is a thermoplastic material composed of a mixture of polyterpenes, resins, and other compounds. It is known for its excellent physical and chemical properties, including its biocompatibility.

Gutta-percha has unique properties that make it highly adaptable for dental use. When heated, it becomes soft and pliable, allowing it to be easily condensed and shaped within the root canal. When cooled, it solidifies to form a stable and inert seal.

One important characteristic of dental gutta-percha is its radiopacity. This enables dentists to visualize the placement of gutta-percha in radiographic images, ensuring proper filling of the root canal.
